The Stihl Group announced an extension to the company’s Bronschhofen chain production facility in the Swiss Canton of St. Gallen. The extension adds 107,000 sq. ft. for production and engineering. The approximately $41 million (U.S.) investment will create 50 new jobs at the Bronschhofen plant.
“Our saw chains ‘Made in Switzerland’ occupy a leading position on the world market and are recognized for their technological excellence. The extension will further strengthen our position,” says Dr. Nikolas Stihl.
The project also includes an environmentally friendly energy system for the entire building. Additionally, the heat recovery system and a heat pump utilizes waste heat from air compressors and production machinery. As a result, the system will save about 1,500 megawatts and up to 400 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Currently, some 850 men and women are employed at Stihl’s chain production plants in Wil and Bronschhofen, Switzerland.
