Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Oil Guard System
Briggs & Stratton Commercial Power rolled out a new feature for its popular Vanguard 810 and Big Block commercial engines—the Oil Guard system. This system, a first-of-its-kind, allows commercial users to go 500 hours between oil changes.
During the rollout, Briggs & Stratton recognized “industry changing innovation” is something that is said a lot about a new product. However, in this instance they really feel Oil Guard is an industry changing innovation. Commercial cutters demand productivity—if blades aren’t spinning, they aren’t making money. By taking away the need for frequent oil changes; and creating a quicker toolless oil change, productivity rises as much as 60% per season.
The Briggs & Stratton Vanguard Oil Guard System continuously exchanges oil between the engine and a large remote oil reservoir located external to the engine. The design protects engine oil from thermal breakdown. As a result, it extends maintenance intervals of the oil and produces a cooler-running engine. Since operators have direct access to the oil filter and drain tube, changing the oil is quicker, easier and mess-free.
Initially, this technology will only be available on select Ferris commercial mowers; but Briggs & Stratton reports it will eventually be available to other OEMs. Since the Vanguard Oil Guard System is a factory-integrated technology, not an aftermarket add-on, the 3-year commercial engine limited warranty in its entirety applies. Ferris models with the Oil Guard System integrated include the
- IS 3200Z
- IS 2100Z
- F320Z
- F210Z
- SRS Z2 (stand-on)
- FW35 (wide-area walk-behind)
